The Titanic
Hmm... A very interesting topic has hit the boards of Baltochat, who has ever seen the film "Titanic" or the "Britannic"? i thought they where amazing films ;] And I just lvoe them.
Re: The Titanic
Its a good movie to watch if you love " romance " or " drama ". For me the best part of the movie is the ice-burg. But I never seen or even heard about the Britanic movie.

BOTH where true movies, Britannic was the third of the 3 Olympic-class Liners.
Re: The Titanic
I have only seen the Titanic. Very sad story. Have you seen the cartoon version? Its a mix of 101 Dalmations, and some other disney movies. In my opinion it wasn't very good. My favorite part of the Titanic may be a bit cruel, but I just find it funny when the guy hits the propeller when it was sinking.

Thats cruel, you wouldn't laugh if you where actually ON the Titanic, and you saw that, it's depressing that you know things like this actually happened.
Re: The Titanic
I has seen only the Titanic. I find that it is a very captivating movie, and some of the instrumentals in the movie were stunning. Aside from this I hated the whole Jack+Rose romance it took away from the true story of the Titanic and made the audience focus on them.

Re: The Titanic
Well as you may find that funny I do not! Lives that are ended by harmful and disasterous ways shouldn't at all be funny, I know I'm getting all serious (God forbid it I'm usually not) but that scene was not funny at all.

I understand your POV here FOB. When ever you say the word "Titanic" people suddenly assume i'm talking about the Jack+Rose one.
Shows how popular the film is.
Re: The Titanic
In grade 7 I remember learning why it sank. The ice burg didn't help. When they built it, they had giant walls, but they didn't go up all the way. If they had built them all the way, only one chamber would of filled and they could attempt to fix it, but since they didn't build it all the way, the water got to the top and spilled over into another chamber. Now...my question is, why didn't they build them up all the way?

Re: The Titanic
Well thats the way people are. They are just in for the preciouse money. Just like 9-11 (the goverment blew the twin towers, jet fuel isnt hot enough to melt steel poles. They planted PE4's and other explosvs) . But lets not get to that subject.
My point is they are Argtards.

First off, there not called "Chambers" there called "Compartments". And where seperated by Water-tight Bulkhead's. However, the reason they lowered the Bulkheads was because of the Grand Staircase. The same with lifeboats.
Now you may not know this, but I am a Titanic eXpert, and know more about the Titanic then my History teacher.
Anyway, here goes:
The Original Plan:
The original plan for the Titanic was far less luxary then it actually was. They where to have 48 wooden lifeboats, + 12 collapsables. The water-tight bulkheads where to raise to B deck. Also, the ship was going to have three funnels.
The Ismay plan:
The Ismay plan for the Titanic was almost-perfect for Luxary, but bad for safety. The isay plan lowered lifeboats to 16, and 4 collapsables. The water-tight Bulkheads where also lowered to serve only 10 feet above the water-line at E-deck. And at last, a fouth funnel was added to make the ship look more powerful.
The poor rivets:
The Titanic was made with steele plates around the sides, held together my Steele, and Iron rivets. There are 5 different types of Iron "Number 0", "Number 1", "Number 2", "Number 3" and "Number 4"(Otherwise known as "Best Best", and what you would use on your "Iron"). Half of the ships rivets where steele, however the other was Number 3 (Or "Best") Iron rivets. Which where not even the purist, Number 4 was the best set of Iron rivets, however still very weak.
The Officer Switch:
As you may know, the Captain was EJ (Edward John) Smith, Cheif Officer Wilde, first officer Murdoch, and second officer Lightoller. BUT, what was the original plan?
Well, Captain EJ Smith would of had:
Cheif Officer: Murdoch
First officer: Lightoller
Second Officer: Blinde (Or something)
Exc.
However due to the ship "Olympic" was taken to H&W shipyard, there chief officer took over Murdoch's post.
The lifeboats:
Heroic, pathetic, Titanic. As you would of heard, boats where being launched HALF-full. However Murdoch was a hero, you may have never head of this, but it's true. He was lowering his 3rd boat when Lightoller was bearely lowering his first. Also, he died fighting to save a lifeboat, a wuote from lightoller said:
And Bride said the same.I saw William at lifeboat post 1, lowering one of collapsables, but this went wrong, when water flooded that area, they couldn't release the lifeboat. I saw murdoch fighting the sea's power to save lives. But this massive wave threw him away, and he fell into a depth of no return. This was the last I saw of William Murdoch.
Other Information:
If you would like any more information about the Olympic, Titanic and/or the Britannic. Please ask me here (For Titanic) or PM me (for all of them)
Please tell me for any mistakes I made in my writing
